Good Friday
  • Is a Day of Fasting and Abstinence.
  • There will be a collection in support of the Holy Places - the Christian Shrines and the communities that maintain them in the Holy Land.
  • Pope Francis has decreed the following additional prayer be said during the Solemn Intercessions:

  • XI. For peace throughout the world
    Let us pray for peoples in Ukraine and throughout the world,
    afflicted by the terror and violence of war,
    and driven from their homes into exile;
    that the merciful and powerful Lord will come to their aid.

    Prayer in silence. Then the Priest says:
    Almighty and ever-living God,
    who take pity on the poor and suffering,
    grant that the Sun of Righteousness will shine in all hearts,
    so that walking in your commandments
    they may find true peace.
    Through Christ our Lord.
    R/. Amen.
