Letter from Fr Mark McManus 7th June

Dear Parishioners of St Joseph's & St Charles,

Mission Appeal This Weekend
This weekend sees the annual diocesan mission appeal and this year we welcome Fr. Charles Ijeoma Egbon, Director of the Missionary Society of St. Paul. Fr Charles will celebrate all our Masses this weekend. The MSP is a religious congregation working in different parts of the world, committed to spreading the Gospel and the salvific work of God the Father in the Holy Spirit. The Missionary Society of St. Paul invites us to support their mission. There will be a retiring collection at all our Masses this weekend.
New Lectionaries
(The books we read the scriptures from at Mass et al)
At the beginning of Advent the Church in England and Wales will begin to use a new translation of the Sacred Scriptures at our liturgies. This will involve the purchase of new sets of lectionaries for our church. The sets consist of four volumes and we require:
The large ambo edition, at £695.00
The chapel edition, at £395.00
The study edition, at £250.00
The book of the Gospels, 1 volume, at £275.00
The total cost should be £1,615.00 BUT we can take advantage of a 15% discount if they are ordered before the end of this month (i.e. £1,372.75).
A family has very generously offered to buy the large ambo edition and for this we thank them. If any other parishioners would like to make a donation towards the remaining volumes, please let Fr M know.
Finally, if anyone who wants to replace the CTS New Sunday Missal Standard Edition Red retailing at £19.95 or buy the White Presentation Edition as a gift idea for a First Holy Communicants & Burgundy Gift Edition for a Confirmation gift (for future candidates) both retailing at £29.95, please speak with Cath at the piety stall before Monday, 24 June. Thank you.

Here is this week's newsletter and intentions.

Our Lady of Walsingham, pray for us.
St Joseph, pray for us.
St Charles Borromeo, pray for us.

With my prayers,
Rev. Mark McManus
