Letter from Fr Mark McManus 1st November |
Dear Parishioners of St Joseph's & St Charles, |
Jubilee 2025 Diocesan Pilgrim Passport
The Papal Bull of Indiction announcing the forthcoming Holy Year states: 'Setting out on a journey is traditionally associated with our human quest for meaning in life. A pilgrimage on foot is a great aid for rediscovering the value of silence, effort and simplicity of life. In the coming year, as pilgrims of hope we can travel ancient and more modern routes in order to experience the Jubilee to the full.'A Diocesan Pilgrim Passport for your use is available at the back of the church. Dilexit Nos (He Loved Us)
Pope Francis has written a new encyclical inviting us to gaze upon the human and divine love of the heart of Jesus Christ. It can be found here:https://www.vatican.va/content/francesco/en/encyclicals/documents/20241024-enciclica-dilexit-nos.html If anyone would like to read and discuss it as part of a group (perhaps as a Lenten spiritual exercise?) then please speak with Fr M. Music Matters
Psalmists Required: As our parish is enjoying an uptake of new readers, we would like to invite any persons who may wish to contribute to the musical liturgy of the Parish by singing the Responsorial Psalm (not required to be a reader). This ministry would augment our Liturgy of the Word and all that is required is a love of singing - music and learning aids will be provided and practices arranged to suit. If you are interested, please see Christopher, our organist, or contact him at: christopher@cemusic.co.uk.
Christmas Choir: Any persons interested in contributing toward our musical liturgy over the Christmas Masses are invited to attend weekly choir rehearsals beginning on Monday 4th November at 7pm in the undercroft. All music will be provided and no formal musical training/knowledge is required, simply a love for singing. For more information, please see Christopher, our organist, or contact him at: christopher@cemusic.co.uk. Here are the intercessions for this weekend and next weekend. Our Lady of Walsingham, pray for us. St Joseph, pray for us. St Charles Borromeo, pray for us. With my prayers, Rev. Mark McManus Parish Priest |
