Letter from Mgr Mark McManus 3rd April

Dear Parishioners of St Joseph's & St Charles,

Good Friday I kindly remind you that today, Good Friday, is a day of Fasting & Abstinence, and that everyone aged 14 years and older should abstain from consuming meat, while everyone aged from 18 to 59 should fast, unless exempt (usually for a medical reason). Regardless of age, everyone is encouraged to observe the spirit of the day and to assume some form of penance. There will be a retiring collection today to support the upkeep of The Holy Places in the Holy Land. The Custos of the Holy Land has called the annual Good Friday Collection 'a concrete sign of communion with the Church of Jerusalem' in the midst of undeniably difficult times. Another Visitor Aside from Canon Michael Docherty, we will now also be joined by Monsignor Paul Moss for the Easter triduum. Mgr. Moss works directly for our Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV, in the First Section of the Secretariat of State, and, as many of you know, he is a regular visitor to St Joseph's.
